September 16, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The petite British actress Carey Mulligan stars in the upcoming movie, 'Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps'. In a recent interview the actress confessed that while signing the film she was afraid that her character will turn out to be another accessory of the plot. The actress thought that her character will be redundant to the storyline. The British actress plays the role of Winnie, the estranged daughter to Michael Douglas's character Gordon Gekko.
The actress further explained that she thought that the challenge of the role was to try and make the role of the 'girlfriend' an important one in the Hollywood film. The actress feels that most of the times the role of the girlfriend may get marginalized and she turns into an accessory to the plot. The 25-year old actress confessed that she relished being intimidated by the Hollywood heavy weights Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone on the sets of the movie.
Although Carey played the role of Douglas's estranged daughter they maintained a distance from each other so that they could portray their roles better. The actress also revealed that she always wanted to star in a big boys' film and Wall Street provide the perfect opportunity to her. Let's hope Carey's performance gets appreciated.
