Charlie Sheen is keen on becoming a "full-time dad" in the future.

The Hollywood star was famously sacked from his role on TV show Two and a Half Men last year, after he criticised the show's creator. He also bragged about his drug use in public and was open about living with two girlfriends.

After Charlie revitalises his career and reputation, the star plans on taking a little break from show business to tend to his five kids.

"[My kids are] doing great," Charlie shared. "That's why I'm excited about this show possibly being my swan song. Then I can leave that behind and just be a full-time dad. I'm not saying I'm done forever. I mean, I [just want to] take some time off and do some movies or more TV. I don't know. I don't really have a plan."

Charlie is optimistic about his future with Anger Management, as he loves the energy he experiences on set with the cast and crew.

"I'm in an environment, finally, that is about celebrating the work and the people that do it and I'm surrounded by experts on every front," he said. "It's really exciting."

Charlie's new comedy sitcom Anger Management is set to premier in a few months. The actor desires for the public to focus on the future, not his troubled past.

"I said [to the cast on the first day of the shoot], 'The only thing that's going to slow us down here is laughter,'" Charlie said. "I can't have [what happened with Two and a Half Men] be my legacy. Something like this is such a better opportunity to really go out on a real strong note."

Charlie has two young daughters with actress Denise Richards, twin sons with Brooke Mueller and a 27-year-old daughter with his former high school sweetheart.

Anger Management premieres in the US on June 28.
