Charlie Sheen thanks fans for support

3rd February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Charlie Sheen has released a bizarre statement, in which he says hes put down his sword.

The troubled actor is currently received rehab at his home, following a string of problems. Last week he was hospitalised with severe abdominal pains, after an alleged two days of partying with porn stars. Those close to Charlie insisted he was suffering from a hernia.

Although he has been praised for deciding to get help, his choice means production of his TV show Two and a Half Men has halted.

Last year, he was also hospitalised after he was reportedly found drunk and naked in a hotel room in New York. He was in the city on a family holiday with his ex-wife Denise Richards and their two small children.

Charlie has now issued a statement about his ongoing problems, in which he compared himself to flamboyant actor Errol Flynn.

I want to say thank-you to my fellow cast members, the crew of Two and a Half Men, and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum for their concern and support, he said. And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much. Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, thank-you.

The 45-year-old added he knows he has a lot of work to do before he is fully healthy again. He seemed genuinely touched by the outpouring of love he has received during his recent problems.

I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people, he said.

Earlier yesterday, the 911 call which saw Charlie taken to hospital last week was made public. The stars neighbour Dr. Paul Nassif telephoned emergency services after someone who was with Charlie at his home got in touch.

They said don't call 911, but I got [Sheen] on the phone and he was very, very intoxicated, also apparently in a lot of pain, Paul revealed. (C) Cover Media
