Chaz Bono has broken off his engagement with long time love Jennifer Elia.

The transgender activist was only seeing proposing to this fiance with a huge diamond ring on his reality show, Being Chaz, last month.

The series is a follow-up to his documentary Becoming Chaz, which followed him as he transitioned from a woman to a man.

But TMZ is reporting that Chaz, who is the son of singer Cher and Sonny Bono, is now a single man.

A rep for the former Dancing With The Stars contestant said that the pair are "no longer a couple."

"They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection toward one another," spokesman Howard Bragman said.

"No further amplification will be forthcoming and they ask that you respect their privacy at this time."

During a recent interview with Howard Stern, Chaz commented that he'd love his own talk show. He even joked he could take on all female programme The View by creating a male version.

It seems television executives were listening in and think the idea could be a good one.

"He is being asked to do tests and put together a pilot. It could be a great alternative male counterpart to the ladies on The View," a source told New York Post.
