(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chris Hemsworth says his audition for new movie Thor was a family effort.
The actor won the lead role of Thor after trying out twice and explained his mother helped him to record an audition tape at short notice.
They shot the clip while he was filming another movie, with Chris managing to convince his mom to take on the part of Odin, which Sir Anthony Hopkins plays in the picture.
I had auditioned very early on [for Thor] and it didnt go any further and then I went off to shoot a movie. Then I got a phone call saying to put down an audition tape. My mum was with me at the time and she played Anthony Hopkins character and read his lines and held the camera and workshopped this in with me. It was a nice family group effort, Chris told Australian radio station 2Day FM.
The 27-year-old also spoke about his relationship with his younger brother Liam, who is an actor too.
Liam also auditioned for Thor and got down to the final four when Chris got called back.
But Chris, who used to star in popular Australian soap opera Home and Away, says that there is no sibling rivalry when it comes to acting.
He revealed that his brother even gave him advice based on his own audition experiences for the role.
Its funny because it became a bit of a team effort because wed be giving each other advice and usually were easily competitive - as brothers are - but in this business you need an ally, he said. (C) Cover Media
