The 35-year-old American actress is best known for portraying Joan Holloway in hit television series Mad Men, alongside stars such as Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss and January Jones.

There have been rumours flying around that Christina is set to play iconic female superhero Wonder Woman in a new adaptation and although Christina is unaware how the rumours began, she has no plans to silence them as shes keen to play the part. The star confessed during an interview with US chat show host Rachael Ray that she has dreamt of portraying the heroine ever since she was a little girl.

I heard that rumour too I dont know where it got started but I love it! she beamed. I've been wanting to wear that outfit my whole life! I'd love to [do it]. That would be such fun! Let's put it out there!

A movie adaptation of the adventures of the comic-book heroine is set for 2013 although it is still in development. Reports have also surfaced this year that a new television series based on the character will be returning to screens. In October, it was suggested that David E. Kelley had been tapped to write and produce the show.

Actress Lynda Carter, now 59, played the title role in television show The New Adventures of Wonder Woman in the 70s and helped make the heroine so iconic. (C) Cover Media
