The Mumbai Police have arrested a conman who allegedly duped Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty's parent's of Rs 2 crore over a course of two years.
The conman named Devender Gajjar was arrested from Ranikalan village in Hastinapur. Shilpa's mother Sunanda stated that the conman disguised himself as an assistant of Yog Guru Baba Ramdev in manufacturing herbal medicines.
The Shetty's blindly believed him and made him the CEO of the company but he allegedly kept siphoning off the funds claiming that the business was picking up and later he duped them and escaped.
Sunanda Shetty said, "Devender, alias Swami Krishnadev Yogi, was introduced to us through a common friend in February 2014. At that time I was looking for someone who could train us in yoga. His profile looked impressive as he claimed to have trained under Baba same guru whose disciple was Baba Ramdev. We trusted him. Later, he revealed to us that he had assisted Ramdev in manufacturing some of the rare herbal tonics that could even treat dreaded diseases like cancer."
She further added, "Gradually, he convinced my husband Surendra to start a venture for manufacturing herbal drugs. We developed a company, Esco Herbal, and made him the CEO."
