September 22, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): The upcoming Malayalam movie Electra has come under the wrath of the Ernakulam Principal Munsiff Court, which has stayed the release and distribution of the movie.
Shyamaprasad is the director of this movie, which has been produced by Vindhyan under the Rasika Entertainment banner.
The distributor Martin Sebastian had alleged that the producer Vindhyan is trying to release the movie going against the earlier agreement between them. Hence, he has filed a petition in the court against the release of the movie.
Electra stars veteran star Prakash Raj, Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala and Nayantara in the lead roles. Nayantara plays the title role of Electra Alexander. Manisha and Prakash play the parents of the leading lady.
Aaromale fame Alphons Joseph has composed the music and Rafeeq Ahmed has penned the lyrics.
The story is about the revenge of Electra Abraham, a Kerala warrior girl who is brought up all her life in a small village in Idukki. She returns home to find her father Joseph Abraham (Prakash Raj) has been murdered. She goes out on a mission with her brother Edwin Abraham to take revenge from her estranged mom Diana Abraham (Manisha Koirala) as she thinks her mother has murdered her father.
The film is set shortly after the Partition of India post independence.
