Daniel Radcliffe has realised he has to embrace his "natural oddness" in order to succeed.
The actor remains best known for portraying Harry Potter in the wizard film franchise. Now that has finished, he's looking forward to winning other roles.
The star will be seen in ghost movie The Woman in Black next year, which is based on the book by Susan Hill. He's proud of his performance and has discussed how he's grown as an actor.
"I think the most vital thing I've learned is that the more I try and suppress my own natural oddness, the less successful I am. I have a slightly staccato way of moving and talking... the realisation hit me that I'm working so hard to try and be something else, and actually, I just have to learn to be my most natural self onstage or onscreen, however that comes across," he explained. "That is one of the biggest lessons there is: don't shy away from your own weirdness. Own your oddness."
Daniel has also appeared on stage in London and New York City. He loves treading the boards and hopes to do a mixture of film and theatre work as he gets older.
The 22-year-old star has no idea what the future holds. He hopes he will continue to be happy wherever his career takes him.
"My worst nightmare is that in ten years, I will be not working and not doing anything. Even if in five years' time I decide to leave the film industry and go off and become an archaeologist, even if I'm doing that, that's great, fine. Best-case scenario is that in ten years' time, I'll have got a good few films under my belt, I don't know how many that would be... suppose we did eight Potter movies in ten [years]; double that, maybe 16? Who knows," he told MTV News.
