(Cover) - EN Star Style - Dannii Minogue has revealed her favourite healthy snacks.

The 39-year-old beauty, who always looks in great shape, says that she isn't one to follow diet fads and doesn't understand why her friends rely on "radical" measures to lose weight.

The Australian star explained that she doesn't believe in extreme diets and follows the principle of eating little and often.

"I'm not a dieter and I can never understand friends who do those radical detox diets where they live on hot lemon juice or cabbage soup for days on end. If I did that I'd last about half an hour," she wrote on UK website MyDaily, where she is a contributing editor. "I like the 'grazing' approach to food, eating small amounts frequently throughout the day. If I eat like this I can avoid getting light-headed and it helps stabilize my metabolism, keeping me feeling energized all day long."

The mother-of-one said that while she enjoys the occasional treat, it is important to strike the right balance between healthy snacks and guilty pleasures. Naming her top five foods-on-the-go, Dannii revealed a mix of fruit and protein-based snacks.

"You can't beat a homemade smoothie for a quick, easy-to-down, energy boost," she said. "Protein bars are great for nibbling on while I'm at work because there are no crumbs and they're low-GI so they release energy slowly, keeping me going during long days on set. Omelettes are packed with protein, low in carbohydrates and they're light and yummy for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack when you miss a meal."

For those with sugary cravings, the television star named healthy options to replace chocolate with. Her varied snack options mean she can still indulge herself in a sensible manner.

"Dried figs are great for an attack of the sweet tooth. They're a little higher in carbs than some snacks but they're also fat-free and high in fibre, calcium for strong bones, disease-fighting antioxidants and iron," she explained. "The perfect snack when you're settling down for a DVD night, popcorn is high in antioxidants and fibre. It's a wholegrain so 30 grams of popcorn is equivalent to a portion of brown rice and it's great for keeping you feeling full and balancing blood sugar levels too." (C) Cover Media
