(Cover) - EN Movies - Danny Dyer says he was "out-toughed" on the set of his new film.
The British actor is famed for his hardnosed roles, including The Football Factory, The Business and Outlaw.
The 33-year-old star can be next seen opposite Sean Bean in Age of Heroes, which is based on the formation of Ian Fleming's 30 Commando unit during World War II - the template for the elite forces in the UK. Danny, who plays a commando in the upcoming action thriller, says training alongside real members of the military humbled him.
"I was out-toughed if I'm being honest. I trained with marines and believe me, they are men. I felt like a 12-year-old girl around them. Some of the stories they were telling me, some of the stuff they've been through, it's just unbelievable," he revealed to Cover Media. "To be a p*ncy little actor and to be able to recreate that - it's a privilege and an honour. I will never really be able to understand what it's like to be on the front line, putting my life at risk every single day."
Danny and the rest of the cast and crew were filming in Norway for the duration. The actor says despite the harsh cold, he fought off any signs of illness when a bug took over the filming camp.
"I was alright. I got away with [the injuries]. We had metres of snow though and it was f**king freezing. We were living in log cabins and someone caught this illness and it spread around the whole cast and crew. It was horrible," he recalled. "I woke up one day and the director was down, three actors were down, so we'd have to have a day off, and there wasn't much to do apart from ski. There was a period when I thought the film would never get finished. Out of about 50 people, there were only eight of us who didn't get it, and I was one of them. It's unbelievable. I've got strong f**king genes."
Age of Heroes is in UK cinemas from May 20 and on DVD and Blu-ray on June 13. (C) Cover Media
