(Cover) - EN Movies - Movie studios are said to be vying over Darren Aronofsky's latest offering Noah.
The director was the man behind recent film Black Swan, which saw Natalie Portman pick up the best actress Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA for her portrayal of a troubled ballerina.
He was slated to helm The Wolverine next but dropped out as he wanted to spend time with his family.
Earlier this year rumours about his latest project, entitled Noah, began to surface. It's now been reported the director has been shopping a package around Hollywood, and is seeking $130 million to make the picture.
"New Regency is eyeing a co-financing role. Suitors considering stepping up for the other half include Paramount and Fox, as well as Summit," reports Deadline.
The movie is said to be a "fantasy epic" where Aronofsky will get the chance to be incredibly creative and come up with a totally new planet. He's already written the script, which will be reworked by John Logan.
This project is close to the director's heart, as he's been working on it since he was 13. It will be based on the biblical tale of Noah's ark, about a man who was ordered to make a huge boat to house animals by God as a flood was approaching.
Speaking his plans in 2008, Aronofsky said: "I think it's really timely because it's about environmental apocalypse which is the biggest theme, for me, right now for what's going on on this planet Noah was the first environmentalist." (C) Cover Media
