(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Daryl Hannah has spoken out about the doctors who tried to institutionalise her when she was a child.

The actress-and-environmentalist has revealed she went through a difficult time when her parents got divorced. Daryl was seven when the split happened and began misbehaving when she was at school in Chicago. Her parents became so worried about her they took her out of school and sought advice from doctors.

I experienced a disconnected sense of reality, Daryl explained during an interview with television show Celebrity Ghost Stories. "My parents went through a divorce which caused me to be a little bit more withdrawn.

"I wasn't communicative and wasn't behaving like the rest of the kids."

Doctors were so concerned about Daryls erratic behaviour she had to undergo a series of psychological tests. At one point, the medics considered sending her to a special facility so she could receive more intensive treatment.

"They thought I needed to be on some kind of serious treatment plan and I should probably be institutionalised," the 49-year-old star added. (C) Cover Media
