(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dave Grohl says he wants to be known as a musician not an action figure.
The rocker is lead singer in the American rock group Foo Fighters and they are currently promoting their seventh studio album Wasting Light, which was recorded in Daves garage.
The legendary vocalist has admitted that although the bands previous two records havent been the greatest theyve ever produced, its important to inject some variety into their music. Dave says he would hate to be seen as a cartoon character where fans expect him to do the same thing time after time.
Well you know, we had to make those records to make this record. And we had to make the last album, which was a combination of those two things, because creatively I dont want to become a cartoon character, he told NME. I dont want to paint myself into a corner where I have to do that one thing that people know of me. I dont want to have to strut out there in my costume and play the new songs which sound just like the old songs. Hopefully people see me as a musician, not like a f**king action hero.
The 42-year-old feels relieved to be promoting the Foo Fighters new album because it is true to the bands musical roots. Dave have revealed that gone are the days where the group - which also comprises of Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett and Taylor Hawkins - toy with different influences.
This album really represents the identity of the band, whereas weve made albums before that sound like were trying on clothes that dont fit. But we had to know if they fit or not, he added. (C) Cover Media
