(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Demi Lovato wants to "inspire" people with her music.

The singer-and-actress has experienced personal problems, entering a rehab facility in Chicago to get help for "emotional and physical issues" last year.

Demi released single Skyscraper in July, with her new album following later this month.

The 18-year-old star hopes that the powerful ballad gave people a refreshing perspective on life.

"I've been pretty honest. My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody So, when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people," she revealed in an interview with MTV.

"I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio."

Skyscraper was a hit with Demi's fans. The pretty brunette was initially stunned by the response to her track.

"When the song came out, it went #1 on iTunes instantly and it was so surprising to me," she said.

"I wasn't expecting that at all. It's been such a whirlwind, and I've been so blessed and so thankful for it." (C) Cover Media
