Denzel Washington discusses unbelievable stunts

19th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Denzel Washington felt like he was shooting a Jackass movie when he was making his latest release because the stunts were so stupid.

The actor plays a train engineer in Unstoppable, an action film which is loosely based on the true story of two railway workers who try to stop a runaway train carrying dangerous chemicals. It features a string of dangerous sequences, many of which had to be carried out on fast moving trains, and Denzel admits he was terrified while shooting.

Its just an intense ride with some unbelievable if not stupid stunts. I felt like we were in Jackass Four or something, some of the things we did, he laughed. I dont care what age you are if you fall... the ground doesnt give you a break, like, Oh hes a bit older. It was stupid actually, but we did it, and its up there on the screen. I think that helped create more tension actually, because people realised, Oh wow, theyre really up there. It feels a bit more dangerous than just in front of a green screen, being computer generated.

Tony Scott directed the movie, and he and Denzel have worked together many times before. They get on well and find it easy to collaborate, although the 55-year-old actor hasnt ruled out teaming up with Tonys brother Ridley in the future.

Ridley hasnt called me. Hes got his guy, I think Ridleys done five films with Russell [Crowe]. Russells his guy. But if Ridley calls, Im available, Denzel laughed to British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. (C) Cover Media
