(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dita Von Teese fears Christina Aguileras new film will sour peoples attitudes towards the burlesque profession.
The striking burlesque star is protective over her performance art, and does not want it to be misrepresented to the wider public.
In new film Burlesque, Christina plays a small-town girl who moves to Los Angeles and finds herself catapulted into the spotlight by a bar owner, played by Cher.
Dita is hoping the film will show the profession in a respectable and accurate light.
I just hope it is representative of what neo-burlesque is and people who see the movie arent put off by it, she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Daily Express.
Dita even suggested she would go so far as to avoid watching the movie in protest.
The 38-year-old, who began performing in 1993, believes the best way to enjoy the flamboyant dance style is through a live act, not via the big screen.
Well. I dont really go to the movie theatre often, she said when asked if she would be going to see Christinas film. I much prefer to see real-life burlesque shows and performances. (C) Cover Media
