Emily Blunt happy to play ditzy characters

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emily Blunt loved playing a bimbo for her new movie.

The actress portrays Princess Mary in Gullivers Travels, which is due to hit cinemas worldwide next month. The film is based on the book by Jonathan Swift, and sees Jack Black play Lemuel Gulliver, who ends up on an island inhabited by tiny people.

Emily loved working with Jack because he was so much fun, and relished sinking her teeth into a role which was totally different to others she has played.

Jack Black was a wonderful ringleader, she said. He had incredible energy and kept us on our toes. My character is quite dim-witted it was really fun to play a bimbo. Shes probably the girliest character Ive ever played.

That said, Emily insists she has little in common with the character. She was a tomboy when she was young, which is why totally embracing a new outlook was so much fun.

I never dreamed of being a princess when I was a child I wanted to be on the soccer team, she laughed to Company magazine. I wasnt into Barbie dolls and I swore Id never, ever, wear pink. Id throw tantrums if my mom put me in pink clothes. Not a girly girl at all." (C) Cover Media
