(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Emily Mortimer's son got confused by high-tech toilets when she took him to a movie set in Japan.
The 39-year-old British actress has two kids with American husband Alessandro Nivola; seven-year-old Samuel John and 18-month-old daughter May Rose.
Emily loves nothing more than getting her children involved with her career, and often invites them on set to witness her in action. The star has recalled one funny moment involving a toilet in Japan which is similar to a scene which occurs in Cars 2 - the animated comedy where she voices character Holley Shiftwell - where character Mater visits a confusing latrine.
"Almost the same thing happened to my son when I was a filming a movie in Tokyo two years ago and we arrived at the hotel, one of these huge sky-rise hotels, and he was peeing in the loo and he saw all these he described it so perfectly. He said, 'I saw these buttons and I thought well one of them must be the flush I guess,' and so he pressed this button and then he described it like it was almost in slow motion," she laughed to British newspaper The Independent.
"His arm came out like 'umm' and he's thinking, 'What's that and why are there all those little holes in it?' and just as he went, 'Why are there all these holes in it?' it just sprayed and he comes back into the room, all wet, saying, 'Mom, I have a bit of a problem in the loo...' So that scene just cracked Sam up when we watched the movie together. It really resonated for him."
Emily also took the time to discuss her happy marriage to Alessandro. The pair wed in 2003, and Emily feels sorry for her spouse as he has had to fight some unfair stereotypes.
"Because my husband is American, there's a certain perception among us Brits that he's probably a bit more stupid than we are. Then he has to prove them wrong," she explained.
"Whereas I, on the other hand, am at an unfair advantage here because people assume that because I talk with this posh English accent that I must be intelligent, which is not, by any means, necessarily true." (C) Cover Media
