(Cover) - EN Movies - Emma Stone is being lined up to appear in The Gangster Squad.

Scheduled for release in 2013, the crime drama boasts an A-list cast already, including Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Sean Penn.

It has now been revealed that rising Hollywood star Emma is in talks to portray the female lead in the 1940s-set picture.

According to Variety, Emma is up for the role of quick-witted Jean, a young lady who becomes involved in a love triangle with Ryan and Sean's characters Sgt. Jerry Wooters and Mickey Cohen.

The Gangster Squad will be directed by Ruben Fleischer, and is based on a series of Los Angeles Times articles recalling the work of a LAPD team's efforts to ruling out corruption in the city.

The big-budget picture is scheduled to begin shooting this September. If Emma does join the movie, she will be reunited with her Crazy, Stupid, Love. co-star Ryan. The pair appear together in the soon-to-be-released romantic comedy. (C) Cover Media
