Eva Longoria's career interferes with love'

16th March 2012

Eva Longoria's friends are worried that the actress' career is getting in the way of her love life.

The Desperate Housewives star called it quits with her toy-boy lover Eduardo Cruz earlier this month after a year together.

But friends have told Life & Style that although the pair really cared about each other, her busy schedule played a part in the demise of the romance.

"I saw them the week before and they seemed fine," the insider told the publication. "She was happy and upbeat. I'm really surprised they broke up."

Last October, there were reports she had gotten close to LA Lakers basketball star Matt Barnes. However, it has now been claimed that it was her dedication to her career that put the final nail in the coffin.

"Eva is obsessed with work, which gets in the way of her relationships," the friend added.

"When you're with Eva, you're definitely living in her world; everything is up to her. I think Eduardo had a hard time with it because he wanted to be in charge too. So they ended it."

Eva who has been married twice says she still "believes in love" and hopes that the "third time's the charm."

"I believe things are meant to be and that whatever happens is for a reason," she said.

Meanwhile, Eva celebrated her birthday last night at Cecconi's restaurant in Hollywood with her good friends Victoria Beckham and Kate Beckinsale.

The stars turned heads at the event in black attire. Eva wore a simple dress with silver sparkling detailing around the shoulders while Victoria donned a minidress paired with sky-high heels and Kate coupled tight leggings with a loose cream blazer.

Kate and Eva seemingly shared a joked as they made their way into the restaurant but Victoria failed to crack a smile as she walked past photographers.
