The stunning actress, who is renowned for her glamorous style, is puzzled as to why women shy away from the classic little black dress look.

The star, who recently chopped off her long locks in favour of a modern pixie do, insists the perfect LBD is not a boring sartorial option.

"People avoid little black dresses because they think they're predictable, but it's a lost art," she said in an interview with Glamour magazine.

Evan says she never leaves home without her mascara or favourite vintage suitcase. The actress revealed that she can't go anywhere without taking her trusty Samsonite travel case with her because it makes her feel ultra feminine.

"It makes me feel like I'm in an old movie," she said. "I love a glamorous case."

Evan was able to dress in her signature vintage-inspired style in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce, which is set in the 1930s. The beauty stars as Veda, the daughter of divorce Mildred Pierce in the show, played by Kate Winslet. Evan loved the trouser suit she wore on the television series.

"Your whole stance totally changes in a good suit; you feel tougher, but still feminine and sexy. The trouser suit I wore in Mildred Pierce is very Katherine Hepburn, and is definitely something I would wear off-screen too," she revealed. (C) Cover Media
