Farhan Akhtar has been one of the most socially active personalities of the Indian Film Fraternity. The versatile star has been vocal about the safety of women in Indian society. 

After the infamous 2012 Delhi Gang Rape Case, Farhan initiated a social campaign MARD - Men Against Rape and Discrimination.

He has been consistently working on his initiative to spread awareness in regards to issues related to women, their rights and dignity. Ever since then his initiative has got a humongous response and he is elated that the cause is garnering the much needed support from all ends. 

Farhan feels that due to many such initiatives, though slowly, people are gradually moving towards the change. 

"I believe that change is very difficult to achieve overnight. All of us are involved in this process at some or the other level and that is great. Most importantly all of us have become more aware of how acute the problem is and we are openly talking about it," said Farhan. 

Despite of his erratic schedule and various responsibilities, Farhan promises that his professional/personal life will never hinder his contribution towards the campaign. 

"I will do my best and contribute to create awareness. I am extremely happy to be a part of this change. The issues that 'MARD' addresses - gender equality and respect for women - need every possible avenue and platform," he added.

We hope other stars too take an inspiration from him and give back to the society for its welfare using their star status and motivating people for good.
