Reacting to the strike call given by South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC), the Film Employees' Federation of South India (FEFSI) has said that the workers were not demanding a huge hike from the producers.
Stating that it was high time SIFCC stopped interfering in matters of FEFSI, G Siva, the secretary of FEFSI, issued a statement on Thursday, saying that the decision by the chamber will only spoil the relationship between workers and producers in the state.
“We will hold talks with the Tamil Film Producers Council if there is any issue because the problems of employees might differ from one region to the other, since the chamber has representatives from Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada film industries,” said another office-bearer of FEFSI.
The film industry in the South is in for a big crisis with producers from the four states deciding to stop shoots of all new productions. They alleged that the FEFSI, which represents 24 ‘crafts' of the film industry, has been demanding exorbitant hike in the salaries of workers.
