October 12, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Bollywood does not always rule the catwalk and this was proved when Rina Dhakas fashion range was described as disappointing on the last day of the HDIL India Couture Week 2010. The designer did have a beautiful showstopper in the form of Anushka Sharma, but still failed to cut the mark with her line of clothes. This phenomenon made it clear that it is not Bollywood but clothes which still rule the ramp at a fashion show.
Critics slammed the Rina Dhaka collection. Reports claimed that her designs, here, in Mumbai were almost the same as they were back in Delhi, a few months back. The only difference was that while her Delhi clothes were primarily western silhouettes, the ones showcased in the India Couture Week, were Indian. Titled Entanglement is what the designer preferred to refer to them as in Mumbai, but discerning eyes of critics were quick to notice that the new collection was a mere extension of the Cobweb collection showcased in Delhi. This show, coming from an ace designer like Rina Dhaka is indeed disappointing, considering she is regarded as one of the most popular designers in the contemporary Indian fashion circle, her clothes selling in the international market as well. Blue, black and pink were the most prominent colors that Rina Dhaka flirted on the Sunday stage of the HDIL India Couture Week, making use of mostly nets and laces for her line of clothes.
Apart from Rina Dhaka, designer Rohit Bal too showcased his line on the same day.
