Florence Welch has joked she might "do star jumps in the middle" of her Brit Awards performance tomorrow night.

The singer explained that when she performs live, she often gets the impulse to do something weird on stage.

Despite her huge on-going success, the Florence + The Machine frontwoman still suffers from nerves ahead of her shows.

"[Before I go on stage I feel ] pure white fear. I find myself thinking What do I do again?' But once you're in it, you can't stop it. It's like, Oh, it's happening now. I can't actually stop the whole thing,'" she told BBC Radio 1. "I do have those thoughts though Because it's live TV, I always get those weird [impulses] like when you are standing too close to the edge of the tube, like anything could happen. Having that sort of power, like, I could do something really weird on live telly'. But I never do. Why doesn't it happen more? Like, people just wigging out. [Playing] the hurdy gurdy or something. I might do star jumps in the middle [of my Brits set]."

Florence also spoke about the challenges of recording an album.

The Shake It Out singer found it harder to put together her first offering Lungs because most of the songs were recorded in different places and had a different feel to them.

She feels she finally found her sound on follow-up Ceremonials and her experience made the process easier.

"I think it's so funny because with the first record it was almost as if it was the second one. Because I got the Critic's Choice [Award] there was so much scrutiny and people waiting for it to come out So when it came to making the second one I had a much clearer idea of what I wanted to do," she said. "I was with one producer in one place and it had one sound to it and this thread [running] all the way through the album. With the first one I kind of didn't know what I was doing, I was trying everything out. I think that's what you have to do with the first record. I'd learnt something [from that] so coming to the second one was easier."
