(Cover) - EN Showbiz - James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been announced as the hosts of next years Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have confirmed that movie stars Anne and James will co-host the 83rd edition of the prestigious Academy Awards, due to take place on February 27 next year.

Organisers chose the pair because they are both credible talents, and are also believed to have the ability to relate well to audiences.

"What we have here are two really emerging talents who are very respected and are going to have, I think, magnificent careers," Oscars telecast producer Don Mischer said.

"They deserve to be there, they've got the chops to be there, they want to be there, and I think that's going to make the audience really relate to them."

Anne is considered one of Americas hottest rising stars, and was nominated for the best actress Oscar last year for her performance in Rachel Getting Married. She also joined host Hugh Jackman on stage for a song and dance spectacular two years ago. The talented beauty has revealed shes thrilled about the upcoming event, although rather nervous too.

"I can probably let it slip that I'm terrified and exhilarated and excited," she confessed.

Meanwhile James is expected to receive an Oscar nomination this year following his astounding performance in British director Danny Boyle's film 127 Hours, based on the true story of a mountain climber who survived after being trapped under a boulder.

There has been a trend towards using actors to host the Academy Awards recently.

Last year, movie legends Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin impressed the crowds with their witty lines and charm when they hosted the awards. (C) Cover Media
