Fergie: Peas songs are magic

30th November 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Fergie thinks the secret to the Black Eyed Peas success is that they dont try stick to a formula, instead making new magic on each record.

The hip-hop collective, comprising of will.i.am, apl.de.ap, Taboo, and Fergie, are one of the worlds biggest groups, and have enjoyed a string of international hits over the past decade.

The bands only female member Fergie thinks the reason theyve done so well is that they always produce a fresh sound, and dont rely on recreating past records.

You become a caricature if you try to repeat the magic of the past. There's new magic to be made, she told USA Today.

The gorgeous star explained the band keep up-to-date on the current music scene by going to clubs most nights, and she tries to make it along as much as she can too. Going on tour gives them the opportunity to not just witness American trends, but also pick up flavours from across the globe.

On tour, the guys went out every night I'd make it once a week and we felt the pulse of what's going on in clubs all over the world, she enthused.

The talented singer thinks its much more important for her band to stay ahead of the game, rather than getting complacent as a result of their vast success. Visiting live music venues also gives the band an idea of how the songs theyre creating would work in a nightclub.

"We don't sit around and think about our Grammys. You have to be inspired by the now. When we're in the studio, we think, 'How is this going to feel in the club?' That's where these last two albums live and breathe, she added. (C) Cover Media
