Gabriella Cilmi: I love the high street

24th December 2010

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Gabriella Cilmi never splashes out on clothes as she knows her father would be unimpressed.

The Australian singer is very close to her parents Paula and Joe, and she makes sure she always listens to the advice they give her. Her mother and father were always careful with cash when Gabriella was growing up, so she has learnt not to fritter her earnings.

Im from a strict, working-class Italian family so Ive always got my dads voice in my head telling me to watch my pennies, she said. I get really excited when I hit the high street in the UK, especially when my friends come over from Australia.

The 19-year-old always thought clothing was better cut and would fit nicer if it was expensive, but has realised that isnt the case. She insists it is easy to achieve a fashionable look without much cash, as long as you shop around.

I bought a couple of pairs of 60s-style shorts recently from the high street and they really suit my body shape, she added. It surprised me that I didnt have to spend a fortune to get some nice-fitting shorts. (C) Cover Media
