The 24-year-old actress is considered one of Hollywoods hottest rising stars, having received critical acclaim for her appearances in films such as Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Tamara Drewe.

Gemma is keen not to let success go to her head though, and the British actress is adamant she will never lose sight of her roots. One of the main reasons the star doesnt want to forget about the real world is that she considers it fundamental for thespians to understand normal people.

The talented actress travels in buses whenever she can rather than taking chauffeur-driven limousines, and observes people from a distance.

I get on the bus and I sort of hide there and watch people, but its important. You have to keep yourself in the real world, she told the BBCs The Culture Show.

Gemma also attributes her unpretentious nature to the fact that she doesnt often hang around in showbiz circles. The actress also has a close-knit family who are keen to make sure she doesnt become too starry.

Surprisingly I dont have many actor friends and I have a very, very down-to-earth family who always keep me in check, she added. (C) Cover Media
