Gemma Arterton: I want colleagues to respect me

16th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gemma Arterton has come to close to walking off film sets in the past because colleagues have treated her "as a piece of a*s".

The 24-year-old British actress is one of Hollywoods brightest young stars, having made a name for herself in movies such as Clash Of The Titans, Prince Of Persia and the James Bond film Quantum Of Solace. Despite being grateful for her success and finding some of her male colleagues respectful, Gemma has got very frustrated when past employees have assessed her credibility in terms of her good looks.

"I'm looking at working with people I get on with, that respect me, that don't just see me as a piece of a*s. Which I have experienced as well," she told GQ magazine. "I've nearly walked off very big films before, and I would, because I don't want that in my life. I want to enjoy the work I do."

Gemma recently spent time in Paris, France, where she was promoting her current movie, the Stephen Frears-directed romantic comedy Tamara Drewe.

In Tamara Drewe the actress plays a London-based journalist who returns to her childhood home in the countryside and falls in love with a rock star, portrayed by Dominic Cooper.

Some of her characters costume choices in the movie were rather revealing, and in one scene Gemma crosses over a fence in a particularly tight pair of denim shorts.

The actress admits that when she was in the French capital she got fed up with seeing posters featuring her in hotpants all over the city.

"There are pictures of me everywhere in those f**king hot pants, she moaned. (C) Cover Media
