December 9, 2010 (Sampurn Wire):George Clooney is all set to play John Zachary DeLorean in an upcoming film based on the US engineer and automobile executive. While Hollywood has seen his creations being part of a film, this is the first time that the man himself becomes the subject of a Hollywood production. John DeLorean was the founder of the DeLorean Motor Company in the United Sates, a company which manufactured vehicles like the DeLorean DMC-12 sports car, the Pontiac Firebird and the Pontiac Grand Prix.
When approached by the media, Stephen Wynn, the present head of the DeLorean Motor Company confirmed the news about a film being made on the life of the legendary engineer and executive in Hollywood and promptly says that his first choice for John DeLorean would be none other than George Clooney. However, this is not the first time that John DeLorean finds himself in the center of a Hollywood flick. His creation, the DeLorean DMC-12, was presented in an earlier project titled Back To Future. This however is the first time that John DeLorean finds himself as the subject matter of a film. The upcoming Hollywood venture will be a biopic on John Zachary DeLorean and will show various stages of his life, from childhood to death.
Come to think of it, it is indeed strange that John DeLorean has never been portrayed in Hollywood films earlier because filmmakers over generations have been highly interested in the man who created some of the loveliest cars in the US, and has had an eventful life not only professionally but also personally.
