(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Giuliana Rancic has breast cancer.

The E! News host made the announcement on American television show Today earlier this morning.

Giuliana and her husband Bill Rancic have documented their attempts to get pregnant in their reality series Giuliana & Bill. They recently decided to try in vitro fertilisation for the third time, which was when Giuliana discovered she has the disease.

"Through my attempt to get pregnant for the third time, we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It's been a shock. A lot of people have been asking, we saw that you went and got IVF, are you pregnant? But sadly, we've had to put that off," she said.

The 37-year-old had been planning to get a mammogram when she was 40. However, a doctor advised her to have the procedure before trying for a baby again.

"I couldn't believe it," she said of her diagnosis. "I will be OK, because I found it early."

The star will have an operation this week, before starting radiation therapy.

She remains positive and is focusing on having a family with her husband.

"I'm not going to give up," she said. "Now I truly believe God was looking out for me. Had I gotten pregnant, a few years down the line I could have gotten sicker. So the baby saved my life.

"[Bill has been] unbelievable. The best thing about him is, he lets me cry when I want to cry." (C) Cover Media
