Gwen Stefani: I design for me

29th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Gwen Stefani knows she will never be as accomplished in design as Dame Vivienne Westwood.

The singer-turned-fashion-designer who is the lead singer of rock band No Doubt debuted her clothing line L.A.M.B. in 2003. The blonde beauty expanded the collection with the 2005 Harajuku Lovers line, drawing inspiration from Japanese culture and fashion.

The American star has revealed that despite her successful foray into the fashion world, shell never rival the greatest designers including Vivienne.

"For me the line is genuinely for myself. I want to make a line of clothes that I want to wear it's kind of selfishI'm not going to ever be a Vivienne Westwood. I'm trying to make clothes to wear every day, that's what L.A.M.B. is. It's not a couture line, she told CNN.

Gwen says she started the fashion line because she was unsure of her staying power in the music industry. The singer says that she wanted to channel her creativity by doing something other than performing as a musician.

"I started the line honestly because nine or ten years ago I didn't know how long I would be doing music. They ask you 'What are you going to do in ten years,' and I didn't know, I just thought by then I want to have a family and I'm not going to be doing music but I wanted to do something creative, she revealed.

The star who is known for her eclectic fashion sense and outspoken style says that fashion should always be fun. Gwen says that people shouldnt think too much into their style choices.

"I think fashion is more of a fun sort of thing. It's an expression of yourself and your personality and your mood, it's not something we take super deep," she explained. (C) Cover Media
