Olivier Martinez has confirmed he is engaged to Halle Berry.

The French actor addressed rumours that the pair are planning to wed as he opened his new restaurant Villa Azur in Miami on Saturday.

"Yes, of course we're engaged!" Olivier told Miami.com.

Olivier did not reveal when he popped the question to the 45-year-old beauty, but there is speculation it was around the Christmas holidays. Halle first sparked wedding rumours after she was seen wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring in early January.

The 46-year-old hunk also addressed claims about Halle's impressive engagement band which was previously described as an "emerald-and-diamond ring from Gurhan".

"There is a jeweller taking credit for doing the ring and it's a lie!" he explained. "They have nothing to do with this."

Olivier went on to divulge that the engagement ring was designed by Robert Mazlo who is based in Paris, France. The star says that Robert is a "real artist" and he has been creating jewellery for royalty for many years.

Halle first met Olivier on the set of the movie Dark Tide in South Africa. They went public with their romance in late 2010.

Halle who has a three-year-old daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry has been married twice before.

She divorced baseball star David Justice in 1997 after five years of marriage and her four year union to singer Eric Bent ended in 2005.

Olivier has romanced famous faces including Kylie Minogue and Mira Sorvino, but has never tied the knot.
