Halle Berry is reportedly "terrified for her safety."
The actress has three-year-old Nahla with her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and the pair are currently locked in a bitter custody dispute.
Halle recently filed papers with family court to request permission to move abroad.
Although Halle is feuding with Gabriel, she is more concerned about the recent release of Madonna's stalker Robert Hoskins.
Robert is believed to have just "walked away" from a mental institution and is described as "highly psychotic when not taking his medication and has very violent tendencies".
Robert had been serving a ten-year sentence and is now thought to be after Halle.
"Friends are scared for her life because Robert Hoskins wants to kill her," a source told Radar Online. "She is terrified for her safety. The LAPD told Halle that Hoskins threatened: I'm going to kill that b***h, I'm going to cut her throat.' "
Robert was arrested in May 1995 after he scaled the walls of Madonna's home and was shot after failing at an attempt to steal a security guard's gun. Before invading the singer's property, Robert claimed that Madonna was his wife and said that he would kill her if she didn't accept his advances.
Robert is now focusing his attention exclusively on Halle.
"When he came out of prison, he said: F**k Madonna, I want to cut Halle Berry's throat,'" another insider revealed. "They sent him to Metropolitan State Hospital last fall but he escaped on Tuesday, and it's really frightening because he told everyone there that he was going to kill Halle."
In response to Robert's threats, Halle has put her home under strict surveillance.
"Halle has hired 24-hour guarded security at her home and the LAPD has been visiting her since the escape," the source said. "The police are serious about this guy because he always travels with a knife and gun."
Halle is thought to be intent on moving to France with her reported fianc Olivier Martinez.
The pair have a court date set for Friday to decide whether or not Halle and Nahla will be able to move to Europe.
