Actor, writer, director and producer Sean Justin Penn "Sean Penn" was born on August 17, 1960, in Burbank, California. Penn’s father, Leo Penn, was an actor and director and his mother, Eileen Ryan, was an actress. Penn was destined to be a movie star as the saying goes “it runs in the family”. Sean grew up in Los Angeles, and attended Santa Monica High School along with fellow students and future actors Emilio Estevez, Charlie Sheen, and Rob Lowe.

Sean Penn has won two Academy Awards for best actor, one for his role as Harvey Milk in Milk and one for his role as Jimmy Markum in Mystic River as well as the recipient of a Golden Globe Award for the former and a Screen Actors Guild Award for the latter.
