Bollywood filmmaker David Dhawan turns 60 as he celebrates his birthday today August 16, 2015.

Particularly known in the bollywood fraternity for his films with the moniker, "No.1", David started off his career in the film industry as an editor before venturing into directing and once he sat on the director's seat, there was no looking back for him as he eventually established himself as one of the most promising directors in bollywood.

David is well known for his films with the title "No.1", like 'Coolie no.1', 'Hero No.1', 'Jodi No.1' and 'Shaadi No.1' and just as the title suggests, these films indeed proved to be No.1 at the box office at the time of their release.

He is also known for his collaboration with his personal favourite, actor Govinda on numerous comedy films which went on to gain cult status, especially 'Coolie No.1' and 'Hero No.1'.

David has been nominated for filmfare award for his work numerous times. He won the Big Star Entertainment Award in the Most Entertaining Comedy film category for his film 'Main Tera Hero' which starred his son Varun Dhawan in the lead.

All said and done, David Dhawan has proved his mettle as one of the most sought after directors in bollywood and also as a filmmaker who specialises in comedy films.
