Golden Globe award winner Emily Blunt will be celebrating her 29th Birthday.
Emily Blunt was born in London,on 23rd February 1983, to a teacher mother and barrister father. She had a stuttering problem in her childhood, until one of her teachers cast her in a school play, convincing her to try a different accent. Miraculously, the stutter disappeared with her portrayal of the role, and it was then that she realized she should be a stage actress.
She was chosen to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival and was signed by agent Ken Reddie, who landed her roles in various stage and television productions. She appeared in the play The Royal Family at London's famous Haymarket Theatre opposite Dame Judi Dench, and won an Evening Standard British Film Award for Most Promising Newcomer.
Her stardom continued to rise with her role as Emily in The Devil Wears Prada. She has since appeared in many films including The Jane Austen Book Club, Dan in Real Life , The Great Buck Howard and Curiosity , along with brief stints in television shows such as Foyle's War , and The Simpsons.
In 2009, Blunt and actor John Krasinski announced their engagement and were married in July 2010 in Italy.
Blunt's role in The Devil Wears Prada, was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Emily Blunt won an ALFS Award for British Supporting Actress of the Year.
In 2009, Emily Blunt played Queen Victoria in The Young Victoria. In 2010, look for her opposite Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins in the werewolf flick- The Wolfman. She also played Princess of Lilliputia opposite funnymen Jason Segel and Jack Black in Gulliver’s Travels; a ballerina in the sci-fi romance The Adjustment Bureau opposite Matt Damon; and a Texan woman who starts a business smuggling Mexicans across the border in The Girl.
In January 2011, Blunt began filming an American science-fiction film Looper, directed by Rian Johnson and co-starring Bruce Willis. She appeared in the British comedy film Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, directed by Lasse Hallström and co-starring Ewan McGregor and Kristin Scott Thomas. She also completed work on the upcoming film The Five-Year Engagement, directed by Nicholas Stoller and co-starring Jason Segel. She is scheduled to star in "Arthur Newman, Golf Pro" with Colin Firth in 2012.
