Hollywood actor Jude Law will be celebrating his 39th birthday today.

Jude Law was born in Lewisham, South London, the second child of comprehensive school teachers Margaret Anne and Peter Robert Law.

Movie star Jude Law is one of Hollywood's top actors known for his performance as a wounded Civil War soldier in the 2003 film "Cold Mountain".

He earned critical praise for his role opposite Ethan Hawke in the sci-fi film "Gattaca" and Matt Damon in "The Talented Mr. Ripley". Law appeared with Ed Harris in "Enemy at the Gates" and starred in Steven Spielberg's "A. I. Artificial Intelligence".

He also was nominated for a best actor Oscar for "Cold Mountain" . Since proving himself as a leading man, Law has cranked out the feature films at an impressive pace. His movies include: "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow "the remake of "Alfie" , "I Heart Huckabees", Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator" , "Closer" , "All the King's Men", "The Holiday" .

 Jude has appeared in the films "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" and Sherlock Holmes as Holmes's sidekick, Dr. Watson. Jude Law reprised his role of Dr. John Watson in the Sherlock Holmes sequel- "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows".
