Best known to make the crowd laugh till they drop, director Rohit Shetty celebrates his birthday today. He has made movies that literally tickles your funny bones, thus establishing himself as Bollywood's top filmmakers.

Rohit Shetty, who is son of a famous Kannada actor was very interested in films since childhood itself. Watching his dad on big screen since a kid, he had already started spinning the web of films in his mind.

He started his career as an assistant director working with Ajay Devgn. Since then he has developed a great rapport with Ajay and he made up his mind that he would make his first solo movie with him.

Thus came the time when he had to wear the director's hat all by himself. It was then that the film 'Zameen' released. Though it didn't do well at the box-office, Rohit never gave up.

He worked harder and gave the audiences what they were looking for and that was comedy. After three long years of understanding how direction works, in 2006 'Golmaal' was made. A film starring Ajay, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi, Rohit rose to fame with this film.

Sooner than you know, he made the sequels to 'Golmaal' and a few other films making him a good director.

Currently, Rohit is working on 'Chennai Express' with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone which will release on August 8, 2013.

Even today, the filmmaker decided to spend time at work instead of celebrating his big day. Guess the star knows best.
