Happy Birthday Shammi Kapoor- A Tribute!

21st October 2011

Bollywood's eternal Romantic Shammi Kapoor, who passed away two months ago, would have turned 80 today. In a career that spanned more than three decades, he rolled out one hit after another – Professor, An Evening in Paris, Teesri Manzil, Brahmachari and Rajkumar being only some of them. But behind the success was hard work and a solid set of values.

The charismatic actor who was born on October 21, 1931, in Mumbai was the second of three sons born to the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor. As expected, he joined the cinema world in 1948 as a junior artist and made his Bollywood debut in 1953 with Jeevan Jyoti. He broke the mould with Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957) and Dil Deke Dekho (1959), shaving off his moustache to become the debonair green-eyed romantic who danced like a dream, teaching us how to twist and shout, and rock and roll.

The Yahoo star passed away on August 14 after battling prolonged illness. But his pain, sadness or any regrets never showed on his face. He was always cheerful, always very passionate about life and a happy man till his last breath.

Not just India’s Elvis but also our very own, unique Shammi Kapoor may have passed away but has left his legacy behind. Fridaymoviez wishes this legend a very Happy Birthday!
