The actress who was born on 29 April 1970 began her career as a model, later went on to become a Hollwood actress at the age of 18. But her breakthrough came in her role as Cecile de Volanges in Dangerous Liaisons in the year 1988.

The actress won her first Nomination for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Pulp Fiction. The movie was a financial success and the critics embraced her for her performance. She won the MTV Movie Award for Best Dance Sequence (shared with John Travolta).

Uma took a great pause for nearly five years and came back in the year 2003 with Paycheck. But Kill Bill Vol.1 became the relauncher for her. The role was her most demanding for which she had to learn martial arts, swordsmanship and Japanese. The two-part action epic (Kill Bill Vol.2) became an instant cult classic and scored highly with critics. The film series earned Thurman Golden Globe nominations for both entries, and three MTV Movie Awards for Best Female Performance and twice for Best Fight.

Today the actress is busy with her upcoming releases like Movie 43 and Savages.
