(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Harrison Ford attended anchorman school in order to perform his new movie role.

The 68-year-old actor stars in Morning Glory, where he plays Mike Pomeroy, a seasoned hard news journalist who begins presenting a light-hearted breakfast show.

The actor stars alongside Diane Keaton, who also plays a news anchor, and the pair attended a college in Los Angeles to learn how to read the news.

Roger [Michell, the director] had an idea in the beginning that both Diane and I should go to anchor man academy. In Los Angeles there is a school for everything so we went to this for a short period of time to be coached on how to read a teleprompter and very well meaning and professional people said things like look into the camera and pretend youre talking to a friend of yours. But after that we understood thats not what Mike Pomeroy was about he wouldnt deign to do it that way, Harrison said.

His character is a bad-tempered individual who feels the fluffy news show is beneath his experience and skills as a professional journalist.

Harrison admitted he enjoyed playing the role because he likes to perform irritable characters.

It was a lot of fun, he told the BBC Breakfast Show. I love comedy and I loved the opportunity to play this grumpy old guy. (C) Cover Media
