The newest and final Harry Potter instalment has earned $82.5 million worldwide and a record-breaking $43.5 million in midnight screenings at the US domestic box office since its premiere earlier this week.
Released in only 3800 theatres in America, the domestic midnight box office earnings of $43.5 million has earned the movie the best showing of all time.
The final film in the popular fantasy franchise is based on J.K. Rowling's book, which tells follows Harry and his cronies attempting to slay Voldemort, the heinous villain that sends terror throughout the world of wizardry.
In Hollywood there was controversy about the poor earnings on 3D movies, but the success of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 put those anxieties to rest.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, nearly 61 percent of the international earnings came from 3D showings and the North American 3D screenings were completely sold out.
Internationally, the film is earning 39 percent more than its previous instalment and this is only the beginning. (C) Cover Media
