'Hichki' seems to be a story of an ordinary woman with an un-ordinary disease named Tourette's Syndrome because of which she struggles a lot and is also made fun of. The film tells a story of Rani Mukerji's on-screen character who is passionate about the profession of teaching even after possessing a vocal defect in her speaking.
The trailer begins with a light-hearted note introducing Rani's on-screen character with her own shortcomings and gives us an idea of how fresh is the film's concept.
She murmurs few un-controlled hiccups regularly which is a flaw in her life and accepts her imperfection. The story focuses on the difficulties that a specially dis-abled woman faces in her day-to-day life. Rani is filling the shoes of an old school teacher and her character is so innocent and loving that is actually worthy of an appreciation.
The trailer itself is a glimpse of a student-teacher rapport and Rani is taken a task in her hand of believing in the bad students that they will do well if polished accordingly. The mischevious children play pranks on her but she refuses to give up. Instead, she believes that their is some hidden talent that must be taken care of.
Looks like Mukerji's acting prowess is going to receive some adequate amount of appreciation from the audiences. The character is slightly funny, emotional and extremely relatable to many of the school going teenagers. Hichki will see Mukerji return to the silver screen after a four-year gap from acting (after the birth of her daughter Adira with husband Aditya Chopra).
Produced by Maneesh Sharma, Hichki is a Siddharth P Malhotra's directorial venture and will be released under the Yash Raj Films banner. It is slated to release on February 23, 2018.
