Hilary Swank challenged by movie role

12th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Hilary Swank felt under immense pressure playing her role in new movie Conviction.

The double Oscar-winning actress takes the part of Betty Anne Waters, a woman who goes to law school in order to free her brother Kenny Waters from a wrongful murder charge.

The story is based on a true-life tale and Hilary wanted to do the part justice after meeting Betty Anne in person.

The last thing on earth I would want is to have Betty Anne go and see the movie and look at me like - What were you thinking? So that adds a level of challenge to the story and ultimately, I just wanted to do justice to Betty Ann and Kennys life, She told the BBC Breakfast Show.

The actress stars alongside Sam Rockwell, who plays Kenny in the film.

Hilary said the pair worked hard to make sure the strong bond between brother and sister was conveyed through the camera lens.

Something that I really carried with me, that I took from my work when talking with Betty Anne, was that she said she always did this for her brother and her brother was always there for her. That was something that Sam and I carried, so every scene was about doing it for the other person, so it gives this great objective that we carried through every scene of the movie, Hilary explained.
