Howard Stern confirmed for TV show

15th December 2011

Howard Stern has been confirmed as a judge on television show America's Got Talent.

The announcement comes after months of speculation surrounding the radio host's interest in the series.

NBC confirmed Howard's move to America's Got Talent on Thursday morning. The radio star will replace British journalist Piers Morgan who departed to focus on his CNN interview show.

The network is thrilled to have Howard on board.

"Howard Stern's larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to America's Got Talent starting this summer," NBC's alternative programming head Paul Telegdy explained in a statement. "He's a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Howard is very passionate about this show and is fully committed to its future success."

Production on America's Got Talent will move from Los Angeles to New York City, where Howard will continue to conduct his SiriusXM radio show.

Howard, 57, has always made it clear that he was interested in joining the panel for America's Got Talent.

"I would be an excellent judge. After all, I've had a 35 year career. I've made stars out of people like Ronnie the Limo Driver and Eric the Midget," he said last month, referring to people he has featured on his radio show.

"I would be good because I would mentor and show people the way.
