Rose, the beautiful Titanic girl, winner of Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards and a single mother to two kids, Kate Winslet, the timeless beauty, celebrates her birthday today, i.e. 5th October. 

Born in Reading, Berkshire, Kate Winslet had a very tough childhood. But acting came knocking to her doors as her maternal grandparents founded the Reading Repertory Theatre. Kate's two elder sisters Beth and Anna are also actresses. Kate WInslet began studying Drama at the age of 11 at the Redroof Theatre School. A year later she appeared in a television commercial. Her first acting roles began through Television; but her real beginning on-screen was through the movie role in the 'Heavenly Creatures' for which she won a lot of appreciation and a London Film Critics Circle Award for British Actress of the Year. Her next role in 'Sense and Senisibility' also won her nominations in Golden Globe. Even though throughout her career she has given many successful movies, she is still known for her role as Rose in the Academy Award winning movie 'Titanic'. At the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, Winslet won the Best Actress in Miniseries or TV Movie award for her role as the titular character in 'Mildred Pierce'.
