17th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ja Rule says the crazy hip hop world prepares kids to deal with sh*t.

The 35-year-old rapper who is currently working on his seventh solo album The Renaissance Project - is due to serve a two-year prison sentence in June following a gun charge that stems from a prior arrest.

The dad-of-three says he worries about how his family will cope while he is away, although he admits his tough lifestyle has prepared them for the worst.

Man just making sure my family are strong. Making sure the kids understand it all. You know whats funny? You know hip hop is crazy. Kids are groomed for this sh*t from all the rappers going to jail and they seeing sh*t on the internet and on the TV all the time, he explained in an interview with Hip Hop Weekly.

The American star says he worries about the impact his sentence will have on his own children. The rapper has admitted it was difficult to explain his criminal behaviour to his family.

I got a 15-year-old, a seven-year-old and a ten-year-old and its like they sad and they hurt but I think they not going to really feel it until I actually have to go, he said. But me on the initial telling them it was like Oh damn dad, you gotta go to jail? Like Wayne and such and such? Its crazy, its f**ked up but the kids these days are being groomed for this.
